Tel: 305/251-0400

Zoo Miami is consistently rated among the top 10 zoos in the world. Zoo Miami houses more than 2,000 wild animals in a cageless setting, which lets you see animals in their natural habitats. With over 1,200 trees and plants visible from our pathways, Zoo Miami has earned the designation of a botanical garden. When you visit Zoo Miami, you’ll feel like you’re embarking on an international safari. We are not a typical zoo where you see animals behind barriers. Large, open-air exhibits let you enjoy wildlife and see animals at a safe yet remarkably close range. Zoo Miami is divided into lobes – Asia, Africa, the Amazon, and Australia – with animals representative of their respective continent.

Zoo Miami has 340 developed acres on a 740-acre parcel of land. Our zoo is so big, you’ll never have the same experience twice! In December 2008, we opened Amazon and Beyond, a 27-acre exhibit which is larger than the average zoo and has more than 600 animals representing Central and South America. See animals, plants, and nature in surroundings that make you feel like you’re in the middle of a tropical rainforest!

At Zoo Miami, visitors can also feed giraffes, a rhino, and pelicans; ride a camel; rent kayaks, pedal boats and water bikes; rent safari cycles to get around the zoo; eat at various concessions; attend Meet the Zookeeper talks throughout the day; ride the air-conditioned monorail to get a bird’s eye view of the zoo; ride a guided tram; take a guided wildlife tour; celebrate birthdays, picnics, weddings, receptions, corporate teambuilding, reunions; and much more.

At our latest exhibit, Wings Down Under: A Parrot Feeding Adventure, visitors can purchase a cup of bird feed and hundreds of colorful Australian budgies and rosellas will fly down and eat out of the cup.

A state-of-the-art playground – wet and dry – is in its final completion phase and will open in late May/early June.

Zoo Miami is also pleased to announce the launch of the Zoo Miami mobile application as well as free Wi-Fi in four large areas in the zoo. The mobile app is free to download and is available for the iPhone at the App Store and the Android platform at the Android Marketplace under the search term Zoo Miami.
