Since 1938 the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden has assembled an outstanding collection of taxonomically arranged and well-documented tropical plants, a National Palm Collection, cycads, flowering trees, vines and fruit trees. Except for certain cultivated plants and critically endangered species, many of these plants are collected from the wild. This Miami garden collection is a resource of world significance as well as an important local resource. The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is a major cultural and visitor attraction, and a center of education, research and conservation.
The Miami garden is also a recognized leader in conservation. Fairchild is dedicated to exploring, explaining and conserving the world of tropical plants. The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden houses the National Palm Collection, has the world’s greatest living collection of palms; an educational program reaching more than 25,000 children per year; hosts events,
concerts, plant society shows and sales.
